Dear Members

Happy New Year to everyone and best wishes for a healthy and peaceful year ahead. Special wishes must go to Miss Smithies who is making splendid progress after her heart operation in December, and to Anne Thistlethwaite who had recovered sufficiently to join us for our Christmas lunch at Rigby’s Farm House. What a joy it was to see her there.

During the last three years I have been asked regularly if we are going to have an Elmslie Ball again. I do hope all of you who have asked, all of you who went in the past and all other members or non-members interested will join us on June 18th at the Spanish Hall. This event is open to all family and friends so please bring a partner and make it a huge success.

Lastly the good news is that I now have an offer of help to lift the photograph albums down from my loft, so at the Ball you can enjoy looking down memory lane!

Best wishes to you all
Sue Humpage
Chairman

A Message From Miss Smithies

I was very grateful for the flowers and good wishes from The Old Girls’ Association during my recent illness. Your kindness was much appreciated. I am pleased to report that my heart valve replacement operation was a success and that I am now almost fully recovered and resuming my normal activities. These include helping to organize another Open Gardens Event in Cockerham on the 18th and 19th June 2005, where my garden (Haven Cottage, 12 Marsh Lane) will be one of those open. When we held a similar event in aid of the church in 2003 it was a pleasure to welcome quite a few Elmslie Old Girls to my garden. I hope to see many of you this year either in Cockerham or at the annual reunion dinner. Meanwhile my good wishes to you all.
